BY TRAIN
Porto has 2 convenient train stations (São Bento + Campanhã) with easy connections to destinations like Lisbon, the Douro Valley, and Galicia.

Porto is designed for ambling on foot without all that much planning. We highly recommend walking as much as possible to soak it up the city and its romance. However, it's also very hilly (tiring, but part of the charm), so please plan accordingly.TAXI
Taxis are plentiful and cheap. Uber, Bolt, and Taxi Link operate in Porto and have very affordable pricing.METRO
The metro system is modern, fast + easy to navigate, and you can pay at the turnstile with Contactless or Apple Pay without needing to use the ticket kiosk.CAR RENTAL
Car rentals are also simple + economical if you're considering a road trip. We'd recommend any comparison platform like Kayak or Expedia to find the best deal – just make sure to check the company's reviews.
MOBILE DATA
Most places have wifi and rely on WhatsApp, so it's not completely necessary to have a data plan while you're in Porto.If you'd like a plan and your phone is eSIM compatible (like all iPhones since 2018), we recommend a short-term, data-only plan from Nomad eSIM or Jetpac. You can buy it while you're at home and activate when you're ready using a wifi connection.Otherwise, you can buy a pre-paid SIM at the airport or from the major Portuguese providers (MEO, NOS, Vodafone) using a passport. Just note this might take a little bit longer in the shop!
WHERE TO STAY
We recommend making Porto city centre your base throughout the weekend. It's a small city, so you'll always have everything close at hand. (The main event is a short drive, and we will provide transportation to and from the venue).The city is full of great hotel and Airbnbs to fit every budget + taste. Just know that May is the beginning of peak season in Porto and can get busy, so we recommend booking as early as possible.Here's a snapshot of our favourite area:
Anywhere inside the red circle is a great location to stay, right in the heart of the action. Rua das Flores (starred) is a pedestrianised street and central reference point (it's where our hotel is, for guidance).If you're looking for something upmarket, we've arranged a special 15% discount at The Hotel Infante Sagres, a beautiful (and boujie) heritage hotel nearby. Do you have a gift registry?
Joining us in Porto is a huge gesture in itself. There is nothing we want more than to have you with us.
Are children invited?
Kids are very welcome at the Friday and Sunday events. But parents, we want you to take the Saturday night off! So the wedding will be adults-only (with the exception of babes-in-arms). If you need help arranging a sitter for Saturday, let us know and we can help.
Will you provide transport to and from the wedding?
Yes! We will send specific details regarding meeting point and specific timings on Saturday. The shuttle bus home will leave once the wedding finishes (at 3:00am), so if you're an earlier bird, do book a taxi if you wish to get home beforehand.
what's on the menu?
We will send out the dinner selection in March once the catering is finalised. Please flag in your RSVP if you have any dietary restrictions and we'll make sure you're looked after.
Anything to remember for the wedding?
We ask that phones and smart watches are put away during the ceremony. (Yes, mother of the bride, that includes you!) We have a professional photographer to capture the day, and your full, un-technologically-mediated energy is the greatest gift.
Do I need a visa to enter europe?
From late 2026, it seems Brits, Aussies + Americans will need an ETIA to enter Portugal. Please double-check before you fly! It should be easy to get but we’d encourage you to organise it with plenty of time, just in case.Americans: Check that the expiration date of your passport is valid for at least 6 months after the end of your trip (i.e., December 2027).
